Harvesting Happiness

Our History

made in napa Since 1946

We began  making and bottling California Grown wines in 1946 with the goal to bring family and friends together over a good meal and a glass of good wine.

Each CK Mondavi wine label tells a story—captured in carefully chosen images selected by fourth-generation family member, Alycia Mondavi.

These pictures reflect the Mondavi family's journey: from humble beginnings, to a deep-rooted passion for winemaking that spans five generations. It's more than wine; it's a legacy of family, craftsmanship, and the American dream—shared with every pour.

Meet our Winemaker

Randy Herron

Randy Herron did not set out to become a winemaker. He initially studied business, but knew he wanted a job where he would not need to wear a tie everyday. He was grappling with which profession to pursue when a timely conversation with a family friend and longtime wine industry leader set him ona path to a winemaking career that has taken him around the world.

Randy Herron joined as head winemaker just in time for the 2018 harvest. He is elevating the quality of the wines, emphasizing each varietal's natural flavor and essence in an elegant and fruit-forward style. His wines are approachable, delicious, and food friendly.
Insider note: Randy is always armed with a big smile and ready to share a funny story and a good laugh.

for the planet & the future

Responsible and sustainable practices are part of our DNA. We use lighter weight 100% renewable glass to reduce carbon emissions and encourage recycling. We also use corks made with plant-based polymers that have a zero-carbon footprint and protect our wines from oxygen and keep them fresh.

CK Mondavi  1.5L size wines are a smart choice for larger gatherings. One bottle contains 10 glasses of wine vs. 5 glasses in a standard size bottle (average cost per glass is 38% less). It's also reduces packaging materials by 50%. Good for the pocketbook and the planet.

We farm using time-honored, environmentally responsible practices—planting cover crops to enrich the soil, managing water use with care, and supporting biodiversity through owl boxes and green wildlife corridors. For decades, we've partnered with like-minded growers and families who share our commitment to preserving the land. Our goal is simple: to protect and nurture this land for today, and for the generations yet to come.
